Gene Loflin, Past Chair
Dr. Gene Loflin currently serves as Associate Vice President for Compliance at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (A-B Tech) in Asheville, North Carolina. Gene earned a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy from Mars Hill University, a Master of Arts in Education from Appalachian State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Florida State University. Gene has over 40 years of experience in education as a teacher in Early Childhood Education; K-12; and as faculty member, administrator, and chief academic officer in colleges and universities. Gene also has worked in prison education over the past forty years. Gene has served on numerous nonprofit boards. Most recently, he served on the Buncombe Partnership for Children Board, acting as the Board Treasurer and eventually Chair. Gene currently serves on the North Carolina State Employees Credit Union, Biltmore Branch, Advisory Board as Chair, the Land of Sky P20 Council as Chair, and the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge Board, serving as Board Treasurer.
